2016 Great Northwest Invitational Wine Competition

SILVER MEDAL, Savor NW Wine Awards, 2017

Tasting Notes

Our 2014 Puffin Pinot Noir opens with enticing aromas of red cherry and raspberry paired with classic Oregon Pinot Noir forest floor in the background. Flavors of red cherry, plum, earth and spice appear in the mid-palate. This wine is nicely balanced, which gives it a clean finish matched with soft tannins.

Food Pairing

This food-friendly Pinot Noir pairs nicely with a wide variety of foods, including salmon, tuna, portabella, turkey and tofu.  It also pairs surprisingly well with salads, chicken and pork, including bacon.

Product Notes

At harvest, the grapes were de-stemmed to whole berries. In the cellar, this Pinot Noir was aged for 10 months on its original yeast lees in 100% French oak barrels.  Approximately 40% of the French oak barrels were new.

2013 Puffin Pinot noir Tasting Notes

The 2013 Puffin Pinot Noir presents more as a classic Pinot Noir from Burgundy than Oregon.  Aromas of violets, forest floor and dark cherries take you back to the birthplace of Pinot Noir. This delicate wine offers flavors of plum, blackberry bramble and spice in the mid-palate.   This wine is nicely balanced, which gives it a long, clean finish.
